Still I am growing roots, in this far away
country. Assimilating traditions, I am grounding my years.
Enduring memories of my childhood, which is the only legacy I have
from the town where I was born and where I gave my first steps.

It was a sandy land with stones, and
plantations in both sides, with straw sheets
you could make castles, newspaper where
also needed. Channels were excavated,
brick by brick a wall was raised. It was a growing town,
Comas was building its future, Comas was building its future.

It’s been such a long time, and still remembrances are so clear that make me cry.

Today I am filled with nostalgia remembering those field trips.
The Legend’s Park, The Fortress, and The Stadium, the Fair that happened every year,
the Purple October, the Museums, the Beaches and even the riots
that occurred in The May 2nd Square.

My Mother used to dress me with the most
beautiful clothes, that she sew herself with
left overs of fabrics and ribbons, and during
winter my aunts knit me sweaters of virgin
wool, it was so pure that itched a lot, but 
how it kept me warm.

Today I am filled with nostalgia, remembe-
ring all those Sundays, the delicious heart kebabs, the sweet pumpkin doughnut,
so appropriate to ease our sorrow outside of the cemetery, between flowers, crisantemus,
and a rain of kisses and hugs, love and a lot of comforting words for our
deceased Grandparents.

It’s been such a long time, and still remembrances are so clear that make me cry.
